The three musicians in J&J&K all have vast experiences in the
contemporary music/avantgarde and improvisation fields.
John Ehde has made a versatile career as a cellist with broad
skills. John Hegre has been an active performer and producer of noise, improvised music and new electronic music since the mid 1990s. Knut Vaage is one of Norways foremost composers with a pianist background. Many of Vaage´s projects have investigated the boundaries between improvisation and composed music.
J&J&K began their collaboration in 2017, as part of a three year research project at Bergen University in Norway-
“(un)settling sites and styles, in search of new expressive means”.
The musicians explain:
“In our part of the project, we aim to develop new scores and expressions through dialogue between performer and composer. By means of hybrid acoustic/electronic sounds and free improvisation we aim to reach a certain level of new expressivity. Through our own investigation and intense research, we will explore microphones and electronic equipment specifically suited for our process.
